Developer Tools
We’re happy to announce our new developer tools. Now, using our already-awesome platform as a jumping off point, you can edit code to customize your own features. Any kind of website you can imagine, you can create.
Custom CSS
Choose your preferred approach: append styles of your own to extend the CSS produced by our design tool, or turn on “full design override” so only your custom styles apply. The former is ideal for customizing your most critical content and dropping in some CSS3 goodies that our design tool doesn’t (yet!) offer like text-shadow, box-shadow, and CSS gradients. The latter delivers you pristine, semantic HTML for you to style to your heart’s content.
Custom JavaScript
We’ll supply your site template with two of the most popular and useful libraries out there: Modernizr and jQuery. Include your favorite jQuery plugins from the massive open-source selection that’s available, or write your own. Include third-party widgets and integrations that aren’t (yet) offered in our Connections platform. The sky really is the limit here.
Custom HTML Block
We’ve designed SpaceCraft’s content editing process to allow for clean, semantic, naturally search-engine-optimized HTML markup on our customers’ sites. Sometimes, though, you might need something a little extra, so we’ve added a Custom HTML block to the content options, available only to developers. Go ahead, drop in that <marquee> tag if you must.
Awesome In-Browser Editing
To save you a lot of copy-and-paste hassles, we’ve integrated the open-source Ace editor for all of our developer tools—you will be amazed at how good a browser-based code editor can be. Set up all your favorite options—tab size, font size, color and syntax highlighting themes straight out of TextMate, key bindings to match some favorite editors, etc.—and get coding. Try the full-window option coupled with your browser’s full-screen option for a coding experience that rivals even the best native applications.
Our dev tools already give you the power to take your SpaceCraft site’s design and interactivity to new heights, but we’re just getting started. We’ll be listening carefully to your feedback and improving the tools’ capabilities all the time. We can’t wait to see what you’ll build with them.
